WHITECROSS STREET PARTY
IS TAKING A PLANNED PAUSE IN 2026

Whitecross Street Party, Islington’s much-loved free festival celebrating the radical histories and creativity of Bunhill, will take a planned pause in 2026.

This gives us the opportunity to invest in the festival’s long-term future, strengthening its financial sustainability, refreshing how it is run and governed, and deepening community involvement.

Our ambition is to bring Whitecross Street Party back in 2027 stronger, more inclusive and built to thrive for many years to come.

Over the coming months, we’ll be working closely with residents, artists, community organisations, local businesses and creative entrepreneurs to co-design the next chapter of the festival. Together, we will shape a free, bold and joyful event that continues to reflect local pride, creativity and opportunity, while supporting community wealth-building and local employment. A dedicated engagement programme will place local voices at the heart of this process, ensuring the renewed Whitecross Street Party stays true to its unique, street arts-led spirit.

Last year marked the 15th anniversary of Whitecross Street Party. Rooted in the area’s rich history of community arts and social change, the event featured a mix of live painting, music, workshops, performances, markets and street food.

Islington Council remains fully committed to working in partnership with everyone who cares about Whitecross Street Party to secure its future as a vibrant, inclusive and well-loved highlight of the borough’s cultural calendar.
